Semaglutide Dosing — How It Works

How GLP-1 dose escalation works for Semaglutide patients, when to consider staying at your current dose, and where to find your personalized plan.

📋 About Your Medication
Bliv offers both compounded GLP-1 medications prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies, and access to branded GLP-1 medications manufactured by Novo Nordisk (Ozempic®, Wegovy®) and Eli Lilly (Mounjaro®, Zepbound®). Your prescription will specify which type you have been prescribed. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved finished drug products, though they are prepared under federal standards by licensed pharmacies. Branded medications are FDA-approved. If you have questions about which medication you are receiving, please check your prescription label or contact your Bliv provider.

Your Semaglutide Dosing Plan

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist prescribed at a starting dose that gradually increases over your treatment cycle. This stepped approach reduces the likelihood of nausea and other early side effects while allowing your body to adapt to the medication.

Your exact dose, schedule, and the number of units to draw are in your personalized dosing plan — sent by email when your prescription was filled and available in your patient portal at app.joinbliv.com/login. Always use that document as your source of truth.

How Dose Escalation Works

Most Semaglutide protocols move through several dose levels, typically holding at each level for a set number of weeks before increasing. The goal is to find the lowest dose that delivers consistent results with manageable side effects — not necessarily the highest dose available.

Your dosing plan will clearly show:

  • What dose you are currently prescribed (in mg)

  • How many units to draw on your syringe for that dose

  • When (and whether) to move to the next dose level

Do I Have to Increase My Dose?

No. Escalating your dose is a clinical guideline, not a mandate. If you are experiencing steady progress and your current dose is well-tolerated, there is no requirement to increase. Any decision to change your dose should involve your provider. Do not self-adjust without approval.

Injection Frequency

Semaglutide is a once-weekly injection. Administer it on the same day each week for best results. If you accidentally take it a day early or late, refer to your dosing plan or contact support — do not double-dose to compensate.
