If You Miss a Dose

Missing an occasional weekly injection is not a medical emergency, but how you handle it depends on how much time has passed.

Missed by a Day or Two

Take your dose as soon as you remember, then return to your regular weekly schedule from that day forward. You do not need to take an extra dose or adjust your amount to compensate.

Missed by More Than Several Days

If more than several days have passed and your next scheduled dose is coming up soon, skip the missed dose entirely and simply resume your normal schedule on your next injection day. Taking two doses close together increases the likelihood of side effects and is not recommended.

Do Not Double-Dose

Do not take a larger dose to make up for a missed one. Taking more than prescribed does not speed up results and significantly increases the risk of nausea, vomiting, and other side effects.

When to Contact Your Provider

  • You have missed multiple doses in a row

  • You experienced a side effect that caused you to skip a dose intentionally

  • You want to adjust your schedule going forward
