When to Contact Your Provider vs. Call 911

How to know when to reach out to your Bliv provider, when to call 911 or go to the ER, and when a nurse call or support team is the right first step.

⚠️ Important: About Your Medication
If you purchased the compounded GLP-1 medication, the medication you receive from Bliv is a compounded GLP-1 prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy. It is not a branded manufacturer product. It is not Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, or Zepbound® — which are brand-name medications manufactured by Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly respectively. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved finished drug products, though they are prepared under federal standards by licensed pharmacies. If you have questions about this distinction, please speak with your Bliv provider.

Most Questions Can Be Answered by Your Nurse or Support Team

The majority of questions that come up during your compounded GLP-1 treatment — dosing, side effects, missed injections, reorders, shipping, and billing — can be resolved by our support team or through a nurse follow-up call. This article helps you identify the situations that genuinely require provider-level attention.

Contact Your Bliv Provider For

  • Requesting a change to your prescribed dose

  • Questions about whether GLP-1 therapy is appropriate for a new health condition you have developed

  • A new medication you have been prescribed that may interact with your GLP-1 treatment

  • Requesting a pause or discontinuation of your treatment for medical reasons

  • Any provider documentation requests (letters, prescription verifications)

Call 911 or Go to the Emergency Room Immediately For

Do not wait, do not contact support, and do not attempt to manage the following symptoms at home:

  • Severe or persistent abdominal pain, especially pain that radiates to the back — this can be a sign of pancreatitis, which is a serious condition requiring emergency evaluation

  • Severe allergic reaction — difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, hives, dizziness, or rapid heartbeat following an injection

  • Signs of a serious gastrointestinal event — inability to keep any fluids down for more than 24 hours, severe vomiting with abdominal rigidity

  • Chest pain, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations following an injection

  • Loss of consciousness or confusion

Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. After receiving emergency care, notify your Bliv provider through the patient portal so your treatment plan can be reviewed.

For Non-Emergency Clinical Concerns

If you have a clinical question that is not urgent — such as persistent mild side effects, questions about supplements, or lifestyle guidance — a nurse follow-up call is the right first step.
